About me
I was born in February 17th, 1997 in Suqian, Jiangsu Province, China. In June 2019, I received the B.Eng. degree with a major in Automation at the School of Internet of Things Engineering, Jiangnan University in Wuxi, China.
In September 2019, I began my Ph.D. studies at Jiangnan University under the supervision of Prof. Hongfeng Tao. My main interests are in the areas of iterative learning control, optimization, data-based control, and reinforcement learning. I expect to graduate in June of 2025.
News
- May 25th, 2025: I successfully defended my Ph.D. thesis, titled "Iterative learning control and optimization of repetitive systems with varying trial lengths".
- May 10th, 2025: I attended the 2025 China-Poland-UK International Workshop on Data-Driven Control, at Wuxi, China, and gave a keynote talk about the work "Data-enabled iterative learning control: A zero-sum game design for varying time-scale tasks" by myself, Rodrigo A. Gonzalez, Hongfeng Tao, Wojciech Paszke, and Tom Oomen. The workshop manual can be found here.
- May 10th, 2025: I attended the 2025 IEEE 14th Data Driven Control and Learning Systems Conference (DDCLS), at Wuxi, China, and gave a presentation about the conference paper "Iterative learning control for closed-loop systems with actuator saturation using alternating projection" by myself, Max van Meer, Hongfeng Tao, Tom Oomen, Wojciech Paszke, Tao Liu, and Eric Rogers. - March 25th, 2025: I successfully pre-defended my thesis at the School of Internet of Things Engineering, Jiangnan University. My final defense is due at the end of May.
- March 20th, 2025: The conference paper "Iterative learning control for closed-loop systems with actuator saturation using alternating projection" by myself, Max van Meer, Hongfeng Tao, Tom Oomen, Wojciech Paszke, Tao Liu, and Eric Rogers, was accepted for oral presentation in the 2025 IEEE 14th Data Driven Control and Learning Systems Conference (DDCLS), Wuxi, China.
- August 5-7th, 2024: My supervisor, Prof. Hongfeng Tao, and I attended the 2024 Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Learning Systems at Shaoxing, China, and Prof. Hongfeng Tao gave a keynote talk on our joint work

- July 21st, 2024: The journal paper " Non-lifted norm optimal iterative learning control for networked dynamical systems: A computationally efficient approach" by Luyuan Gao, myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, and Vladimir Stojanovic, was accepted for publication in Journal of the Franklin Institute.
- July 7th, 2024: My supervisor, Prof. Hongfeng Tao, and I attended a seminar on the China-Poland Cooperation Project at Dalian, China, and Prof. Hongfeng Tao gave a presentation on our joint work

- July 6th, 2024: I attended the 14th Asian Control Conference (ASCC), at Dalian, China. Wojciech Paszke gave a presentation on ASCC about the work "Design of indirect-type iterative learning control for continuous-time batch processes with the repetitive process setting" by Robert Maniarski, Wojciech Paszke, Hongfeng Tao, and myself.
- April 17th, 2024: The conference paper "Projection-based iterative learning control for linear systems with flexible tasks" by Luyuan Gao, myself, Shanglei Guan, Hongfeng Tao, Jier Qiu, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for oral in the 39th Youth Academic Annual Conference of Chinese Association of Automation (YAC), Dalian, China.
- march 26th, 2024: The conference paper "A norm optimal iterative learning control approach with efficient computation" by Luyuan Gao, myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for oral presentation in 2024 IEEE 13th Data Driven Control and Learning Systems Conference (DDCLS), Kaifeng, China.
- December 21st, 2023: The journal paper "Quantized iterative learning control of communication-constrained systems with encoding and decoding mechanism" by Yujuan Tao, Hongfeng Tao, myself, Vladimir Stojanovic, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for publication in Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control.
- September 23-30th, 2023: I was funded by Prof. Wojciech Paszke to visit his university for one week at the University of Zielona Góra, Zielona Góra, Poland.
- July 28th, 2023: The journal paper "Q-learning based fault estimation and fault tolerant iterative learning control for MIMO systems" by Rui Wang, myself, Hongfeng Tao, Wojciech Paszke, and Vladimir Stojanovic, was accepted for publication in ISA transactions.
- May 14th, 2023: The journal paper "Alternating projection-based iterative learning control for discrete-time systems with non-uniform trial lengths" by myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, Eric Rogers, Tom Oomen, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for publication in International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control.
- March 21-23rd, 2023: I attended the 42nd Benelux meeting on Systems and Control at Elspeet, the Netherlands, and gave a presentation on the work Alternating projection-based optimal ILC for linear systems with non-uniform trial lengths under input constraints.
- February 9th, 2023: The journal paper "Optimal iterative learning control design for continuous-time systems with nonidentical trial lengths using alternating projections between multiple sets" by myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, Tom Oomen, Wojciech Paszke, and Eric Rogers, was accepted for publication in Journal of the Franklin Institute.
- December 22nd, 2022: Happy to have a "join teams meeting" held by Tom Oomen and Max van Meer at Eindhoven, the Netherlands!
- December 18th, 2022: I arrived in the Netherlands to start a one-year visit to Oomen's group, Control Systems Technology Section, Eindhoven University of Technology.
- November 27th, 2022: The journal paper "An optimal iterative learning control approach for linear systems with nonuniform trial lengths under input constraints" by myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, Vladimir Stojanovic, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems.
- November 9th, 2022: The journal paper "Feedback-aided PD-type iterative learning control for time-varying systems with non-uniform trial lengths" by Shanglei Guan, myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, Vladimir Stojanovic, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for publication in Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control.
- July 20th, 2022: I received a grant from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to conduct a joint Ph.D study for one year at Oomen's group in Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, the Netherlands, supervised by Prof. Tom Oomen.
- February 7th, 2022: The journal paper "Iterative learning control for repetitive tasks with randomly varying trial lengths using successive projection" by myself, Hongfeng Tao, Yiyang Chen, Vladimir Stojanovic, and Wojciech Paszke, was accepted for publication in International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing.
- September 4th, 2021: I started my Ph.D studies as a formal Ph.D. student at Jiangnan University in Wuxi, China, supervised by Prof. Hongfeng Tao.
- September 3rd, 2021: The conference paper "An optimal iterative learning control design framework for systems with varying trial lengths" by Shanglei Guan, myself, and Hongfeng Tao was accepted for a poster in 2021 China Automation Congress (CAC), Beijing, China.
- May 14-16th, 2021: My supervisor, Prof. Hongfeng Tao, Yande Huang, and I attended 2021 IEEE 10th Data Driven Control and Learning Systems Conference (DDCLS'21) at Suzhou, China, and Yande Huang gave a presentation on our joint work
